TAONUI SCHOOL

FUNDS FOE PIANO. Tho golf putting competitions to raise funds with which to purchase a piano for the Taonui school, proved! both a unique and effective method of winning public support. The scheme was organised by Miss Curtis, head mistress of the Taonui school, and generous assistance was given by Miss Wallace, assistant teacher. The competition netted £2l, which sum is to be handed over to the Education department.

Both Messrs Collins (chairman) and Swanger (secretary) of tho Wanganui Education board, who saw the competitition in progress, were most enthusiastic about the scheme. All who contributed are thanked for their support.

As to where the piano is to be bought it }s explained that tho matter is entirely in the hands of the Education department, which provides the bulk of the financo for the purchase of the instrument.
