PERCY COLEMAN SOON OUTDISTANCES ’PLANE
FLYING MILE IN 44 4-SSECS. I Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. At the motor cycle races at Devonport, Percy Coleman, on a 7 h.p. Harley Davidson, eovered a flying mile* in 44 4-sseconds, a world's record. C. Goodwin on a 2\ h.p. Royal Enfield established a world’s record for middlemachines by covering a flying mile in 47 3-sseconds. R. Ranby, on a 3$ h.p. Indian, covered a flying mile in 46 4-ssecs, a New Zealand record. A race of three miles between an aeroplane piloted by Lieut. lan Keith and a motor cycle ridden by Coleman proved disappointing. Coleman quick]y ran away from the aeroplane, which had difficulty in flying low and turning the corners with safety. Results: Shore Handicap. K. Yates (Rex Acme) 20secs .. 1 S.
