UNITED FIRE BRIGADES COMPETE AT HOKITIKA
YESTERDAY’S COMPETITIONS. Per Press Association. HOKITIKA, Last Night. The United Fire Brigades association demonstration was continued this ■morning. After a showery night, the day was fine and sunny throughout. The water pressure continued highly satisfactory and the general arrangements were-very complete. The demonstration will eoncludo to-morrow and the presentation of trophies will take placo in the evening. Results: Three men, hose and standpipe event Addington It&ilway, 23 4-5 sees (12 points) J Potone, 24 2-ssees (9 points) . 2 Whangarci, 24 3-ssec3 (7 points) 3 Hillside Railway, 25sees and Lower Hutt tied for fourth. Oamaru and Stratford (25 2-ssecs) secured 1} points. Fifty-six teams competed. Three men, motor event Hawera, 17 2-ssecs (12 points) 1 Masterton, 19 3-ssecs (9) .... 2 Petone, 20secs (7) • • 3 Also competed: Taihape 20 4-ssccs (spts), To Aroha 21sees (4pts), Rotorua 21 3-ssecs (3 points). Thirty-seven teams competed. Five men, disabled hose event. Carterton, 54 4-ssecs (20pts) . 1 Greymouth and To Kuiti, 55 4-5 secs (14pts.) 2 Stratford and Thames each 57 4-ssecs (7pts) 3 Hawera, 58 4-ssecs (4pts) .. 4
