SHARKEY EASILY BEATS STRIBLING

Elimination Fight LITTLE RESISTANCE OFFERED TO WINNER HEENEY IN FORM. United Press Association—By Electrii Telegraph—Copyright. Received Thursday 7.15 p.m. NEW YORK, Feb. 27. A Miami Beach message states that Sharkey won his fight with Stribling in the heavyweight elimination. The fight was disapointing during the first half, Stribling’s showing being particularly uninspiring. He was warned for butting in _ the second round, when he took considerable punishment from Sharkey’s head and body blows. Stribling showed to advantage only in one round, Sharkey leading in three and the first being even. Sharkey, through the remainder of the fight, continued to punch his opponent, his rights to the body and left jabs to the face jarring Stribling. Tho bout, however, remained slow in pace and uninteresting as a spectaclo The ninth round was even, but the remainder of the fight was easily Sharkey’s. His occasional uppercuts and swings to the jaw wore well timed and landed accurately. Stribling offered little resistance.

Heeney and Maloney.

A Boston message states that Heeney went through his paces at a local gymnasium there to-day in preparation for his bout with Maloney on Friday. He skipped, worked the pulleys, punched a heavy bag, shadow boxed and fought several strenuous rounds with two sparring partners. He declared himself to be in excellent condition,a due to his long period of hard work in New York. . _ Maloney, who has been training in an out of town camp, did only routine work to-day, and is tapering off his Heeney has impressed the local boxing followers, and as a result, there is little betting, and no 'dds are being quoted.
