After a trial occupying several days, three men were convicted of the bomb outrage on the Greek Club at Melbourne on December 1 and were sentenced by Chief Justice Irvine to the maximum of 15 years’ imprisonment. The prisoners were Timothy O’Connell, 35, a dealer, Francis Delaney, 27, a salesman and Alexander Mclver, 26, a labourer. Two others, Stanley Williams, 36, a bookmaker and Norman Mclver, 28, a stevedore, were acquitted. The two first convicted admitted prior convictions.
