A WONDER CAR
DEVELOPS 265 HORSE-POWER. MONSTER FOR THE OWNERDRIVER. Tho most remarkable car in the world —something entirely new in automobiles! This is the claim made for a model which was shown ait the Automobile Salon in New York, jusit concluded, and ■which has sot all America talking. Two years ago Mr, E. L. Cord, already a “big noise” in the motor induatrvjbf the United States, announced his p’sSpose of building the best motor car in the world. He gave F. E. Dusenborg, a famous builder of racing cars, a free hand, and the car now shown is the result. Not a Racer! It is not a racing car, although capable of very high speed. The engine is rated at 45 h.p. and develops 265 h.p. from two to a hundred miles an hour on top speed. Also it will accelerate from 5 to 25 miles per hour in five seconds, and it will do 89 miles an hour on second gear. There are eight cylinders in line and four valves to each cylinder. Yet this monster —it has the longest wheelbase of any American ear—is intended for the “owner-driver.” Except for cleaning it scarcely needs a chauffeur’s attentions. Every bit of the mechanism, all moving parts of the chassis, are automatically lubricated by the engine which pumps the proper amount of oil into tho joint or bearing every 75 miles.
On the dashboard are a set of tell-tale lights to show whether the oil pump is doing its job properly. Another set of lights tells the driver to change the oil in the sump every 700 miles and to “top-up” his batteries with distilled water every 1400 miles. ■ The chassis price of this car is £I7OO.
