GIRL GUIDES’ SWIMMING SPORTS

The Girl Guides held their annuai swimming sports at the Central school baths on Saturday afternoon, and a most enjoyable and successful time was spent. Tho sports were under the supervision of Mr. Colliers and members of the Royal Life Saving Society and all events were got off in good time. The novelty races caused much excitement and proved very popular, especially tho scramble for corks. Refreshments were provided by the executive committee and were much appreciated. A notable performance was put up by Miss Phyllis Nieholls, of tho Ist Palmerston North company, who carried off seven first prizes Donors of special prizes wero as follow: Mrs. D. H. Bett (president); the Feilding executive, Miss Warburton, Messrs. G. H. Bennett and Co., Mrs. O’Connor, and Mesdames Bett and Barrett (donations towards prize fund). The events resulted as follow: — Breaststroke, 33 1-3 yards: Phyllis Nieholls (Ist P.N.), 1; Eileen Revere (Ist Feilding), 2. Beginners’ race: Dorothy Bagnall (2nd P.N.), 1; Norah Bowden (4th (P.N.), 2. Cork scramble: Phyllis Nieholls, 1; Jean Watters (Ist P.N.), 2. 33 1-3 yards, Guides under 1-1: Kathleen Salter (2nd Feilding) and Eileen Revere, dead heat. 66 2-3 yards, Guides over 14: Phyllis Nieholls, 1; Eileen Revere, 2. Low dive: Phyllis Nieholls, 1; Jean Watters, 2. High dive: Phyllis Nieholls, 1; Eileen Revere, 2. Lighted candle race: Joyce Eosanoski (2nd P.N.), 1; Kathleen Salter, 2. Diving for brick: Phyllis Nieholls, 1; Nancy Gunter (2nd P.N.), 2. 33 1-3 yards, Guides and rangers: Frances Revere (Ist Feilding), 1; Joyce Revere, 2. Life saving event: Phyllis Nieholls, 1; Jc-an Watters, 2. Company relay race: P.N., 1; Feilding. 2.
