CHURCHILL COMPLAINS PARTY LET HIM DOWN
Cabinet Changes View
IRISH LOYALISTS WILL GET FULL JUSTICE
IT MOOD LASTS A WEEK. United Press Association — By Electric Telegraph—Copyright, Received Friday, 2 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 21.
Political circles agree that there has been something of a discussion in Cabinet concerning the incidents in the Commons on February 19. Mr. Churchill is naturally nettled, because Cabinet had previously decidod no more money was available for the Irish loyalists. It is true that his forceful personality possibly influenced the decision, but the fact remains that Cabinet is collectively responsible and Mr. Churchill was only carrying out its decision when ho refused to comply with tho demand for payment of full compensation. It was evident from his manner after tho Prime Minister’s intervention that he felt his position keenly. This feeling persisted at yesterday’s Cabinet, when he still favoured sticking to his guns and forcing the estimate through in its original form.
It is stated Mr. Churchill asserted he had been let clown by both his colleagues and the party. The Daily Telegraph’s Parliamentary correspondent. states Mr. Churchill found himself in a minority of one. It is understood all tho other Ministers, including Mr. Amery, favour paying awards in full. The discussion at times was rather warm, but it was eventually agreed to postpone a decision until tho next meeting on Fcbruaiy 27.
