A Paris cable reports that his three doctors have issued a bulletin that there is a slight improvement in Marshal Foeh’s condition.
The Pohangina County council on Saturday decided to extend its congratulation" to Hon. J. G. Cobbe on attaining Cabinet rank.
Mr." Bert Hinkler has received a shoal of congratulatory cables from Australia upon winning Irlio International gold medal. A cable message from Brisbane reports the death of Mr. Justice John Laskey Woolcock, aged CS, of the Queensland Judiciary. Deceased will be given a State funeral. Mr. W. 0. Strangward, secretary of the Melbourne Tramway board, died on board ship during a holiday while approaching Calcutta, aged 58. Ho was associated with the Melbourne, tramway system for many years. Viscount Hampden, K.C.8., C.M.G., chairman of the National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd., of New Zealand, visited the Longburn freezing works on Friday and returned to Wellington on Saturday. The distinguished visitor served in the South African and European Wars.
Acting on the advice of his medical attendants, the Chief Justice (Sir Charles Skcrritt) has decided to take a sea voyage for the complete restoration of his health. He will accordingly lcavo for England by Port- Denison this month and will return in May to resume duty.—P.A.
A London cable message states that the death occurred during the Salvation Army High Council proceedings at Sunbury Court of Lieutenant Commissioner William Haines, of international headquarters, vice-president of the High Council and a member of the deputation to General Booth. Commissioner Haines, who was of stalwart proportions, had a scriqus seizure in an adjoining room and succumbed despite urgent medical attention.
