ONE MONTH’S RESULTS,
Per Press Association. ' WELLINGTON, Last Night,
An indication of the Government’s policy in connection with land settlement was given by tho Primo Minister to-day, when replyng to a deputation. Part of the Government’s policy, said tho Prime Minister, was to. take up land along tho railway lines and to mako it available upon easy conditions for those anxious to take up small holdings. There were a number of working mon to-day who wore anxious to make a start on tho land and if they could bo given blocks of 25 acres, 50 acres or 75 acres, it would be all for tho good of tho country. In connection with that policy, the Government in the'last few days had taken over a block of land for . the purposo of cutting it up into blocks of from 50 to 70 acres, That was after it had only been a month in office. In addition to that, the Government had already succeeded in raising a loan at 4} per cent, with 5 per cent discount. “Tlioy said we could not get it,” said Sir Joseph, “but we’ve got it.”
