GOOD ALL-ROUND PRICES RULE FOR FARM PRODUCTS
Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Last Night. “Our farmers are enjoying a very favourable season indeed,” commented Mr. C. J. Parlane, general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Coy, in an interview. “Prices of butter, cheese, wool and lamb are comparatively high, while production is good, although the position of fentterfat is not quite so favourable as the casual observer might expect.
“The drought last season made it impossible for many farmers to save sufficient winter feed. The result is that cows came into profit thus season in pooror condition than usual. This with tho bad weather in September appreciably affected butterl’at production during the early months of tho season. However the country is now full of feed and a record season appears assured.
The high prices ruling for butter are in a large measure duo to the drought conditions “in Australia. Butter production is gradually increasing in Estonia, Latvia and Siberia, but this butter is not up to New Zealand standard. There are not so many competitors for the higher quality trade. Wo shall have ample room in this market for some time to come.”
Mr. Parlane appreciated the new dairy regulations for cream grading.
