RANDWICK HOUSE ENTERED SIX TIMES IN EIGHT MONTHS
ALARM FRIGHTENS LATEST VISITOR.
Mrs. C. Chcvnlly, of Randwick, Sydney, has had an unenviablo experience with burglars, her residence having been broken into six times during the past eight years. On December 22. the house was again visited by a thief, but his accidental setting off of an alarm frightened the man, who.escaped from the building. ■ The house was entered by thieves only about two months ago, and after that, visitation Mrs. Chevallv had a system of burglar alarms installed. On December 22, during the temporaryabsence of the inmates of the house, a thief entered the building and accidentally set one of the burglar alarms ringing. Up to that time neighbours who saw the house open thought that Mrs. Chdvally was at home, but the ringing of,the alarm convinced them that a thief had entered the place.
At the same time a man was seen to leave the building and jump a fence. He was pursued by two men, and a youth of about 19 years actually had hold of the intruder at one stage of the chase. While the youth was holding the thief another man, who is stated to have been wearing the uniform of a postal employee, came on the scene, and offered to relieve him of his charge. ' P f ”3^
Suddenly the thief, who had been hold by the arm, broke away and escaped down the rond. He was followed for some distance, but made, good his escape. Neither he nor the supposed postal employee was traced.
