YOUNG GIRL WOUNDED. ALLEGED ACT OF JEALOUSY. Jealousy is said to be the motive for a shooting affray in Adelaide recently. A young Russian, Joseph Amitai, aged 27, is alleged to have shot Caroline Marks, aged IS years. Elijah Rochlin, a young solicitor, was shot in the arm during a subsequent endeavour by a number of young men to disarm Aiuitai. Miss Marks resides with her parents at Port Adelaide, and recently, it is said, Amitai had been paying her considerable attention. According to a statement made by her father, he had been asked to desist. The girl and her parents were driven to a party by Amitai, and were preparing to leave when Amitai is alleged to havo pulled out the revolver and fired point blank at the girl, who was sitting in the back seat of the car with lier mother

Air Marks immediately grappled with Amitai, and during the struggle three more shots were fired, one of which lodged in Rochlin’s arm. Amitai received a severe mauling, but he is net in a serious condition, and a charge of shooting with intent to murder is to be preferred against him. Aliss Marks’ condition was not now regarded as serious. *
