ENGINE STRIKES JIGGER

RAILWAY EMPLOYEE JUMPS JUST IN TIME. Per Press Association. TAIHAPE, Jan. 7. A railway surfaceman, Mr. F. Graff, of Taihape, had a very narrow escape from death when riding on a jigger. When near Tangiwai Mr. Graff was overtaken by a light engine. He hail no sooner jumped off the jigger than the engine, which was running alone, crashed into the machine and flung it off the rails. Tho jigger struck Mr. Graff on tho side and bruised his lower ribs. He was hurried to the Taihape public hospital. His injuries aro not seriou3 J -and lie is progressing satisfactorily.
