The weather was threatening for the races at Flemington. There was a good attendance, including a few New Zealanders. Dismal was last in a well bunched field early in the Hurdles but he led at the last jump and won nicely. The rider was Inkson, who won the Cup Steeples on Extortion. Bel Eouge led early in the Byron Moore Stakes but Valdene finished best. Ho is owned and trained an Adelaide and cost 600 guineas as a yearling. His rider was Duncan, Gothic had a comfortable win in the Linlithgow Stakes. He has been defeated only once in weight-for-age races this season and has won over £I6OO in stakes. He was ridden by Pike and it was a popular win, Resuits: — NOVEMBEE HUEDLES. DISMAL, 10.10 1 MIGRANT, 11.9 2 BLAST, 9.0 3 Won by three lengths, six lengths between second and vthird. OPEEA QUEEN WINS OAKS. Faircroft was second early in the Carnival Handicap and led into the straight to -win brilliantly. He was formerly owned by Eric Connolly and is now raced by J. E. Corteen, who had Herbie. He was ridden by the Adelaide horseman E. Me dihurst. Opera Queen was a long way back early but finished fast and won tho Oaks nicely. She is trained in Adelaide and was bred and is owned by J, M. Cummings, who won the Werribca Cup recently with Ethelton. The time was a race record . The first prize is £1206.

Dion led throughout in the Veteran Stakes. He is a son of the New_ Zealand sire Demosthenes and was ridden by the apprentice O. Phillips, it being his first riding success.
