Barbara, Colonel Archibald's daughter and godmother of an army regiment, has reluctantly accepted engagement rings from each of her many admirers. Carter Brooks, a private, falls in love with her at first sight, and when he discovers his company is about to leave for Europe the two decide to marry at once, although her father is against even an engagement, not: knowing of her many rings.
