One case of scarlet fever was reported in Feilding last month. A set of six swings, a slide and a swing boat have been erected on the children’s playground at Johnstone Park.
Building operations in Feilding were very slack during October. Four permits were issued for work of a total value £263.
There are * 237 subscribers to tho Feilding Municipal Library. Last month 26 new books were purchased and 1483 volumes changed by reader?, Tho fire brigade received a call at 10.25 on Wednesday night to premises in Kimbolton road, occupied by C, Snelling, grocer. The fire was soon under control and very little damagf was done.
During October, 18 cows, 72 heifers, 13 oxen, 1 bull, 27 ewes, 340 wethers, 7 lambs, 495 pigs, 1906 b. calves and 7 vealers were dealt with at the Feilding municipal abattoir. Fees amounted to £177 0s Sd as compared with £2OO for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of £23 4s 4d. A Government official visiting ths recent Royal Show was.unable to obtain accommodation in PalmcrstoE. North and came on to Feilding. Before returning' to the capital city, tho official made known Ills appreciation of the .excellence of the accommodation obtained and was loud in his praise of Feilding as a most delightful town. , Notwithstanding tho repeated flooding of the Oroua river of late, Feilding ’s water supply has been kept to markably clear. For a day or two it was discoloured but by manipulating the reservoirs, the discolouration was abated. Tho new weir and intake nro reported to be in good condition and standing up to the strain of the flood.
