OROUA ELECTORATE
MR. GORDON ELIOTT’S CAMPAIGN.
Continuing the campaign, Mr. Eliott spoke at Hiwinui and Bunnythorpo on Monday evening. At Hiwinui, the audience gave the candidate an attentive hearing, and was evidently in full accord with the statements made.
Mr. McEwen, supported by Mr. Grcenliow, Jnr., moved a vote of thanks and appreciation for services rendered as member, and Mr. W. Grecnhow, as a County councillor, expressed his personal appreciation and that of the local bodies for the excellent work Mr. Eliott .had done on their behalf.
At Bunnythorpo, a full house turned out, despite the wet weather, and the candidate received a great hearing, his straight-forward attacks being greatly enjoyed by tho audience. The address was on tho lines of speeches delivered elsewhere, and at tho conclusion Mr. Eliott was greeted with loud applause. There were several interjectors, but the candidate was in good fighting trim, and dealt very effectively with interjections. At question time, the questions came quickly, and the straightforward replies of Mr. Eliott received a spontaneous “Good on you,” from the main questioner of the evening.
Mr. W. Duthie was chairman. On the motion of Mr. J. W. Clevely, tho candidate was accorded a Hearty vote of thanks and appreciation of services rendered to the electorate during his term as member for tho district. He was supported by Mr J. Thomas and tho motion was carried with rounds of applause. Valley Eoad (Kimbolton) settlers are asked to note the alteration in the time of the meeting at Valley Eoad school on Thursday. The meeting will now, be held at 2.15 p.m., instead of 3 p.m., as previously advertised. ME. ELIOTT SPEAKS IN PEILDING TO-NIGHT. Interest in the political contest in the Oroua electorate will assure a full house at tho Drill Hall to-night, when Mr. J. Gordon Eliott, the sitting member, will address tho electors of Feilding. In addition to dealing with the Government’s . policy and other matters of great moment, Mr. Eliott will reply to the issues raised by his opponent, Mr. J. G. Cobbe, the United Party’s candidate. MB. COBBE’S MEETING AT UMDTOI,
Mr. Cobbe spoke at Umutoi on Monday evening to a largo and attentive audience. Apparently, many electors travelled long distances to bear him. Umutoi has a good enthusiastic committee which is working-.hard for the candidate.
