From Our Own Correspondent. Guy Fawkes Celebrations. Guy Fawkes night was celebrated in right royal Stylo at- Stanway. Fortunately, the rain which had been threat cning all day held off until the end of the evening, and there was a very large and representative gathering, almosl every family arriving well laden with crackers of every size and description. The school children had laboured with a will for several days beforehand ta gather large quantities of material for a bon-lire to bo held in the school grounds and to fashion a Guy Fawkes, and are to bo complimented upon the great success attending their efforts. From a little after seven o’clock, car lights were to be seen approaching from all directions and by 7.30 w,ell over 10Q residents had assembled oh the school grounds. The fire was then set alight, and in an instant lit up the landscape for miles around. In a few moments the leaping flames seized upon and enveloped the very realistic Guy Fawkes, who, smilingly bravely till the last, was seen to totter an instant before collapsing, a writhing mass, into the flefy inferno. As the flames died down, large bundles of crackers were brought forward and for an hour gave a very fine display. Many of the school childre® had for the occasion dressed themselves to represent Guy Fawkes. Altogether a very happy evening was spent and was voted by all present as being the most successful of its kind ever held in, Stanway. Hall Committee Meeting. A meeting of the hall committee be held on Friday evening at the conclusion of Mr. Gordon Eliott’s political address, which will terminate at eight o ’clock.
