Brief But Intensive Storms A weak anti-cyclone is located north of New Zealand, while there is a series of very intense low pressure waves of the westerly type, covering most of the Dominion, the Tasman Sea and southern Australia. Expect strong north to west winds to gales over New Zealand and the Tasman Sea, with generally rough seas and becoming heavy on the West Coast of the South Island. The weather will be unsettled and squally, with rain in most districts but'mainly scattered on the cast coast; heavy falls in Westland and Otago and the ranges of the South Island, with some flooding. Thunder and hail is probable at places. An improvement of short duration is likely soon. Sun (to-day), Rises, 5.10 a.m.; sets, 6.16 p.m. To-morrow. Rises, 5.8 a.m.; sets, 6.17 p.m. Moon (to-dsy).
