OLD TIME DANCE. From Our Own Correspondent. An Old Time Dance attracted h largo crowd, to tho Glop Hall on Friday evening of local, residents and those of tho surrounding districts. Music was supplied 'by Mesdamcs Scott, D. Sounuess, Graves and Wheeler and Messrs. P. Wright, 11. Boswell and H. O’Connor (junior), while Sir. J. E. McCall made a very capable M.C. A lucky spot dance was-held, tho prize being won by Miss Christofforson and Mr. B. Street, while a Monte Carlo waltz competition waswon by Miss E. Algar and Mr. Mooro, Tho danco was a huge success and another will be held in about a month's time. Personal. Mr. C. Donovan, who has been an inmato of the Palmerston North Public Hospital, has returned homo. Mr. G. Stern is at present a patient of a private hospital in Palmerston North. , On Thursday evening, Ecv. Grundy, the Eongotca Presbyterian minister, was paid a surprise visit by-the local Presbyterian Bible Class. Various musical items were rendered and games , and competitions were indulged in till quite a late hour. . y , ' Boxing School. A hftxing school has been formed la Eongotca under tho capable' managemeat of Mr. E. Poupard and already 40 members have joined, a good number of whom have shown remarkable, thlcnt. Mr. Poupard has a very busy' two hours keeping things in order. Tho members show good feeling and are, all taking..matters in tho:right spirit. A strong'‘c'ommitfcp.; has been : elected, consisting of Messrs.’' Av Bur--gess. (chairman), P. Burgess, i ner, G. Wilson, E. J. Arnolt, -T. ,Guih- ■ rie, A. Jcssop, F. Wright and IT. Eadea -ft (secretary). Mn A. Burgess • has kindly donated a' punching ball to the club. After a few weeks the members will bo classified anti some good bouts are anticipated. - It is to bo . hoped that in time to como the ■school will turn out some boys for tho Manawatu Championships, There is a special class for boys 10 to 13 years of age and a number are showing quite good ■ form. The classes are to bo held4tf i tho Coronation hall every Monday evening ,as the Masonic hall was hot sufficiently largo for the, work. , 1 *’.
