TO-NIGHT’S rUNCTION. : ■ That ‘band of human dynamos, tho j Palmerston North Commercial Travel- • lers’ Association, havo diverted all their inexhaustible energy and enterprise into the task of making their eighth annual ball a record ip every way. The spacious new entertainment hall at tho Showgrounds will be a Iseene of dazzling beauty to-night when it is expected that the largest crowd of tho year Trill enter into the carnival spirit which is so conspicuous a feature of the C.T.s ’ festivals. Guests are asked to note one or two pjoints about to-night’s function which will assist in their own enjoyment. Tho host, President Hodgson, will bo wearing a white rosette as also will bo the ball manager, Mr. J. Banks, the master of ceremonies, Mr. L. Thompson, and his assistants Messrs L. Dunn and W. Koyal. Tho members, of tho general committee will bo wearing blue tnd gold rosettes. Guests arg urged not to be afraid to approach any member of the committee for any assistance or information which will help to make their evening as enjoyable as possible. a In order to give the maximum of pleasure Larkin’s full orchestra will play continuously right through the evening, no stop being made for supper. Mr. Dustin is aiming to outdo anything that has been done in Palmerston North previously in catering for balls, 'and ho is confident of succeeding, being supported as he is by an efficient staff. Entrance will be through tho main jgatos of the Showgrounds, which curs

will also be permitted to use. Car drivers are requested to ask all their passengers to alight at the entrance to No. 2 hall and then proceed to park near the football grounds. A marshal will bo on duty and drivers arc asked to give him all possible assistance. Mr. Claude Dixpn is again the artist responsible for transforming tho dance hall into a fairyland, the lighting effects being the work of Mr. J. Jamieson.
