Gilmour, said that he could not make a statement regarding compensation to Oscar Slater, who lest week won his appeal against convicSon and imprisonment for the 'murder of Miss Gilchrist nearly twenty years ago. He thought it better that Slater first have a reasonable chance of making a claim. Major L. Hore-Belisha, Liberal member for Devonport: Would it not' be more generous for the Government ,to make a grant without waiting.* There was no reply. ; : '<
