A Wanganui motorist picked up a tired and dusty pedestrian on his way to Marion recently. Tho walker stated that ho was a ship’s cook and bad missed his vessel at Auckland bad, with tho exception of a lift of la miles, had walked all the way to Marton. He had walked all Thursday night, he said, as it was too cold to sleep, and had not oaten for 36'hours.
