Inquiry Later to be Held Into Expedition PROTEST AGAINST WAVE OP HOSTILITY Times Cables. Received Tuesday, 7.5 p.m. , LONDON, July 23. The Rome correspondent of the Times reports that Signor Mussolini announcing an eventual inquiry into General Nobile’s expedition, informed Cabinet: “Before definitely forming judgment it is necessary to wait until the drama has reached the epilogue. Wo must protest against the wave of inhumanity and hostility against the protagonists of the unfortunate enterprise. Those members have shown courage deserving universal respect. “Only when all possible human to-' searches .have been made to trace tho other victims will a regular inquiry into all phases bo instituted. It win be held in Italy by Italians. Any other hypothesis is absurd and offensive, and will be immediately rejected.’* Signor Mussolini thanked all who assisted, particularly the Krassin, and concluded by tributiug the heroism of the Swedish member. Prof. Malmgren. Tho Moscow correspondent of the Times states that Vecherny Moskwa, aboard the Krassin, declares that .when rescued Commandant Zappi was wearing some of Prof. Malmgren’s clothes, and adds that .the crew of the Italia and members of tho Krassin-s expedition were greatly excited over the mystery of Malmgren’send. The “Times” Moscow correspondent states that tho Italia relief expedition cost Russia £30,000 in freight alone owing to“ shipping being deprived of the services of the icebreakers Krassin and Malygin. This does not include the heavy running expenses and repairs. MARIANO AND ZAPPI ATE MALMGREN’S BODY, IT IS BRUITED, United Service. ' Received Tuesday, 11.25 p.m. LONDON, July 24. The Daily ' Mail’s Copenhagen correspondent' states that the newspaper foifcets Avis received a. telegram. from Oslo announcing rumours that: Zappi and, Mariano • • ate Professor Malmgren’s body, which accounts for the mystery surrounding their trek across the ice. In Oslo it is also rumoured that Zappi is ill following serious charges in connection with Malmgren. The Krassin’s physician expressed the opinion that Zappi had been footless three days when rescued and Mariano five days.
