The Secretary of the Post Office advises that telegrams for Mexico are no longer subject to censorship. Questioned in the House of Commons on Monday regarding the trade mission to Australia, states a Eugby wireless, Mr. Amery said that His Majesty’s Government would be glad to give sympathetic consideration to an invitation by any other Dominion Government for the despatch of a similar ihission. ' On charges of stealing 30 sheep valued at £4B, the property of Jas. W. McNutt, farmer, of Waipukurau, and 100 valued at £IBO from Harry S. Hooper, owner of the Arlington station, George Perry, of Waipukurau, drover, appeared before Justices of the Peace at Waipukurau yesterday morning and was remanded till the 31st inst. Bail was allowed in £4OO and a similar amount in one or two sureties.
A few days ago a resident of St. John’s Hill, Wanganui, imagined that be heard a tui in his garden. On Saturday, however, he gained a view of four greenish tinted birds, a little larger than a sparrow. After a few minutes’ observation, ono of the birds began to sing—a flow of liquid notes like the song of a tui. Some doubt was in the mind of the observer as'to whether they were bell birds or mockmock. Two farmers, who arrived a little later, identified them •; as bell birds. Some years ago, it was slated, that the bell bird was gradually dying out j but recent reports from the bush country, even as far as Hamilton, show that its numbers are increasing. Many amusing communications come from foreign countries to Now Zealand business men. A letter recently received in Wanganui from Germany showed some original methods of spelling and syntax. ■ The missive rah as follows:—-"Dear Sirs, referring to your letter of 30 DeC. I beg to advise you that I have send you, in two separate covers, number of samples demanded and hope that they have reach you in good orden. Furthermore, I like to state you that on all orden, entering yours country, from the consumer diroktly or indirektly via England, I pleased shall be to credit yours. I have not conektion with yours country yet, herofore it may be easy to mo to find whether an orden belongs to you.’’
Dairy farmers and buyers of . cows should not miss the sale of 105 head of dairy stock to be held at Norsewood on Saturday, -when the whole of Mi P. J, Eyan's selected herd will bo sold to the highest bidders. The cows are mostly Jerseys, have been heavily culled for several years, and coming off hill country should do well any* where.
