‘PEACE AND UNIONISM QUITE INCOMPATIBLE’

IRRECONCILABLE MINERS. ■ British Official ‘Wireless. , RUGBY, July 21. After a vigorous debate, the Miners' Federation yesterday at Llandudno rejected a motion to condemn the discussions between tho General Council of the Trades Union Congress and tho group of employers associated with Lord Melchett for peace in industry. The vote was 192,000 in favour of the motion and 309,000 against. The motion declared that peace in industry was incompatible with trade unionism. It expressed tho intransigent policy of Mr' A. J. Cook, who led the miners in the disastrous strike of 1920, and its rejection is regarded ns a signal defeat of that policy.
