KiaToa Defeat Feilding Old Boys IN DESULTORY GAME The manner in which Feilding Old Boys played during the first spell of the match against Kia Toa on Johnston Park on Saturday gave cause for confidence in their ability to win, but they failed, for some inexplicable reason, to hold their end up. They fell away during the second spell, and suffered defeat by 12 points to 3. The game lacked interest, and was devoid of any real exhibition of the code. ■ ,

The teams were:— ; Old Boys: M'Lood, Shrimp ton, Bramwcll (2), Pawson, Cochrane, Waldin, Tait, Heard, Wells, Penney, M'Kay, Keid, Tolley, Younger. _ , Kia Tea: Waslcy, Strange, Mullins, Griffin, Holden, Powell, Shaplcski, Biel, Hcatlcy, Dogherty, Crawford, Parsons, Summers, O'Brien, M‘Donald. ' Greens put the leather in motion, and followed up' with a vigorous assault which brought them well into Kia Toa's near territory, where Mullins toed the leather for to clear. Blues were fortunate p# clear, and advancing down the field were checked by Waldin who brought off a particularly neat feint. This enabled the green backs to get the leather and first Waldin and then, S. Braniwcll, were prominent in keeping blues within their own territory. Greens were penalised for obstruction, on blues line and this saved Kia Toa who failed to make any impression when they advanced. S. Bramwell suddenly picked up from the ruck and with plenty s pf support and little opposition, cut in for what looked a certain try. The effort failed through a faulty pass. , Blues were then penalised for holding the leather, and S. Bram’well made a'good attempt which just missed. Still holding the advantage greens came again and. once more met obstruction . An easier .kick by S. Bramwcll disappointed supporters. Much later than expected, blues collected themselves, and quickly had the Colts defending solidljv Greens were lucky to force. Answering the challenge greens quickly assaulted and once more suffered a check for which, blues were penalised. M., Waldin's kick was badly directed. The attack collapsed on blues near corner flag from - where Kia Toa broke away to bring play into the colts area. The interval come without any score. * ,

Both teams took the field on resuming with more vim and action was fast and vigorous for the few minutes with the advantage well held by the greens,, It was not long before the colts forwards broke through tyith tho leather at their toe, and points'came to tho home team following an infringement under Kia Tea's goal. Waldin sent over an easy kick—3-6. Blues rallied quickly and came near to evening up tho score when N. Bfamwell speculated under his goal and Powell marked., The kick missed, but points same a moment after , when Shapleski got over from tho ruck, and Powell converted —5-3. Strange next set off for. a spectacular try and was unlucky in loosing the leather which went dead. Blues cpntiEued to put up a vigorous light, and were how holding Old Boys. A long spell of desultory play ensued, culminating,in Shapleski scoring from a serum on greens line. Powell's kick was smothered—B-3. Toward the close of the game and while the blues were still the aggressors, M‘Donald sent over ah excellent field goal from a sharp, angle—l 2-3. The final whistle sciunded soon afterwards with the visitors , victors by ,J 3 points to 3. Mr.'Hands controlled the game.
