Mr. Stevenson aj> pcared for, the petitioning creditor. Julian and Son, and Mr. H. Johnston for the judgment debtor. At the outset objection was, taken to Goldsborough being examined as to how he spelt his.name, but. after Mr. Steven son. had .stated that his point was to find out whether the debtor had made certain transactions m other names His Honor said to Mr. Johnston; “Neither you mor .L'can dictate to Mr.Stevensoi as to the manner of his examination.”, y'i In. the course of, tne questioning, th* debtor, who stated that his real name was Goldberg, but he had altered it because it was rather Jewish, said that *ho had sold his car to the Heretanng* Brick Company for £75. .He signed the cheque himself, being the sole director;, of the company.. Asked about the production ot noma .records of this transaction in the com-, pany’s books, the debtor demurred spine’ what, whereupon His Honor: on the failure to produce the books. The debtor was also questioned about various land purchases made' on behalf , of his wife or other persons* His Honor wanted to know how, if tho debtor was acting under power or attorney for someone else, the debtor could pay for property with his wife’s money.' 1 , The debtor detailed properties owned by his wife. He himself had hohdiof* any description, he and his balancjyi at the bank was about £2O, but some of that belonged to the Brick ,Company. He was owed £4O or £SO as salary by that company. . . .
