v With reference to Judge Scheles’ report on Hr. W.’ H. Lambert ’s bribery charges which has been received by the Federal Government Mr. Mahony states that he has an affidavit, frbm e South Australian solicitor which; sup; pprts his (Mahony’d) claim that be Won a substantial sum when Spearfelt won the Melbourne Cup. He adds , that the money with which he purchased his hotel wag the result of this win, and that Mr. Scullin, leader of tho Federal Labour Party, deliberately suppressed evidence that he had. won it at Flemington racecourse until aftpr the Boyal Commission had closed. Mr. Mahony states that this was done because ho , always opposed Mr. Scullin and when he (Mahony) learned that tho evidence was available he was advised by his counsel that .it was tpb late os the Commission had .-closed. ?
