AMENDING LEGISLATION CONCERNING SURVEYORS

... . Times Special. - ... From Our 1 Parliamentary Reporter. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Two Government measures affecting surveyors- were rend a first timo in the ' •House to-day. ■ . Provision for the. registration and licensing of surveyors is already mado by’the Surveyors Institute and Board of .Examiners Act, 1908, the provisions of which arc not considered to bo sufficiently elastic to enable certain rules to be made to secure a proper measure of reciprocity between New Zealand, 'Australia and other places. As ,an amendment of the Act is required to bring this about opportunity has been taken to separate the law ae to the registration, and licensing of surveyors from the provisions relating .to the incorporation and proceedings of the Surveyors Institute and at the same .time tp bring the law as to registration into conformity with more modern statutes dealing with similar matters, is for example the Engineers Registra- , iion'Act, '924. These objects are being achieved by the Surveyors Registration Bill and the Surveyors Institute Amendment Bill, which were introduced to-day.
