UNITED PARTY MAKES PROGRESS

CANDIDATE TO BE ANNOUNCE* SHORTLY.

Those interested in tho formation of a branch of the United Political Party in Palmerston North wore greatly encouraged by the support given the organisation at a meeting held at the Opera House supper room last evening when further consideration was given to the selection of a candidate to contest the Palmerston seat at the forthcoming general election.

Mr. A. E. Davy, of Wellington, Dominion organiser of the Party, > paid a hurried visit to Palmerston North yesterday in connection with the movement, and after conferring with the local committee expressed his appreciation of the splendid progress made. Speculation is rife as to who will be the Party's candidate but it is expected that an announcement will be made within a day or two.
