NEGLECTED FARM IMPLEMENTS
Farm tackle is far more expensive to-Jay thau it was before fuc war, and some of it admittedly not nearly so good. A good deal of the better machinery costs two or three times what ir, used to —even ordinary things like chaff-cutters and root-pulpcrs cannot be hud at anything like former prices iu : spite of mass production. Yet go where you will aboit tho country you see the same neglect being displayed in regard to these things which cost so much more to buy, and, arc therefore better worth taking care of than ever before. It is no uncommon sight to observe a drill, a roller, or mowing machine left standing for months in the field where it was last used, and all the time quite unprotected from the weather, aud sustaining damage every day. In many a farmyard, too, one may see alb sorts of miscellaneous "junk” representing tho rtmnants of once useful implements. The stuff lies about iu everyone's way, and is often a source of danger to the animals on the farm. Yet there it stays, though a good deal of it as old iron would be worth something, while some of it might have had a socond-haud value if it had been put on the market in time.
