The chairman reported that in company with other members of the board he had visited Sanson’s drain. As this drain runs through private property the board decided not to acecdo to tho request of the settlers to take it over. It was resolved that tho board, while not taking - over tho drain, assist Mr. Bennett up to £5 toward the cost of cleaning out his drain to provide an outlet from his property. Trustee Eliott reported that the floodgates at Eangiotu had been found to be padlocked open. The board decided that the floodgates should be left to work automatically, and that the two winches should be padlocked so that the floodgates could not bo interfered with by unauthorised persons. • It was decided to reply to Mr. S. Knight that, as the drain he had referred to was not under the jurisdiction of tho board, no action could be taken. Mi 1 , C. H. Eyman waited upon the board to request that some help bo given toward relieving his property of surplus water. Ho pointed out that during flood time, the.water frequently came right up under his house. The proper outlet for flood water was on the Aorangi road below his property. The drain needed deepening and tho culvert under tho road cleaning out. The board assured Mr. Eyman that some of the trustees would inspect the site at an early date, and meet him fairly in the matter.
