The engagement is announced of Beryl, younger daughter ,of Mr and Mrs*. E. Murray, Whangarei, to James, oldest son of Mr and Mrs. W. Britland, Pahiatua. Mias L. Brimstone is the guest of Mrs. Grant Sim, Palmerston North. Mrs. Cocyane, of Wellington, is at present in Palmerston North. Miss Dongall is a Christchurch visitor to Palmerston North Mrs. G. W. Hume, and Mrs. B. Hume, who have been the guests of Mrs. M. Cooper, at Dannevirke, have returned to their home in Pirinoa. The Misses Tingey, of Epsom, have returned home after a visit to Palmerston North. Mrs. L. F. Speechley, Palmerston North, is leaving by the Rimutaka for England. gjff-
