NOTES
"This simple resting-place it Bill’s, A victim of the pace that kills Unwary men at dangerous corners. Take heed, then ,all William's mourners! Death is always overtaking Men who hoot instead of braking.” Chauffeur of Big Car: Why didn’t you say that you were going to reverse like that? New Motorist: How could I? I didn’t know I was going to do it myself. A day or two ago a motor-cyclist was halted at the corner of Colombo Street and Hereford Street by an inspector, remarks the Christchurch Sun. As a motor-cyclist ho was barred: he was in a hurry, so ho placed an arm under the tank of his fly-weight and walked over the intersection. Pedestrians are privileged. There are times when the road is good, and the moon is bright, and the engine purring, .when the difference between heaven and earth is the thickness of your brake lining.
Motorists ought to have a little more pluck and perseverance. Just because none of them has yet succeeded in knocking .a train off the tracks of a railway crossing is no proof that one of them won’t succeed in doing it sooner or later.,
