DINED, TOOK WINE, AND VISITED SHOWS WITH SIR L. MONEY
MISS SAVIDGE INQUIRY ADMISSIONS BY WITNESS United Press Association —By Elcctrlt Telegraph —Copyright. Received Thursday 5.5 p.m. LONDON, June 6. The inquiry into police and Scotland Yard methods particularly as the outcome of the Miss Savidgo case, has opened. Mr W. Birkctt, K.C., appeared for the police. The public prosecutor, Mr Bodkin, made a statement regarding the action he took. Mr Hastings, opening for Miss Savidgo, said that neither she nor anybody representing her sought to reopen the Hyde Park case. He commented on the police actions towards Miss Savidge at Scotland Yard. Miss Savidgo gave evidence along the linos cabled concerning the alleged third degree methods mentioned in the House of Commons. Cross-examined, she said that Sir Leo Chiozza Money came to her homo at midnight after the examination because he had hoard the police wore making inquiries. Sir Lop seemed upset on learning that she had made a statement. It was arranged at Sir Loo Chiozza Money's that she should visit her solicitors in the morning . Her statement to the solicitors as read out in Parliament, was mostly voluntary. Cross-examined by Mr Birkett, Miss Savidgo said that her statement to Scotland Yard was not true. Mr Birkett: “Have they put in things you did not say 7” Miss Savidge: "Yes.” Miss Savidge at first denied that she often returned home late, but later admitted that it was true. She often met Sir Leo, left him after midnight, and returned home alone. She met S'r Leo about a dozen times In six months, dined, took wine and visited the cinema or theatre, Mr Birkett: "If you had nothing to conceal why did you not toll tho whole truth?"
Miss Savidge: “Why should I after I had been acquitted.” Mr Birkott: “That’s your view. I leave it at that." The inquiry was adjourned.
