SEASON’S FIXTURES. May 26 —Ambcrley Racing Club. June 2, 4 —Otaki Maori Racing Club. June 2,4, 6 —Dunedin Jockey Club. • Juno 2,4, 6—Auckland Racing Club. Juno 16—Napier Park Racing Club. Juno 22, 23—Hawke's Bay Jockey Club^ June 26 —Hawke's Bay Hunt Club. Juno DO and July 2; To Kuiti ICC. (at Ellerslie). July 7—Ashburton County Racing Club. July 11, 12, 14—Wellington ICC. Brigadier Bill Rehanuicapped. Brigadier Bill, winner of the Wanganui Steeplechase last Thursday, has had his handicap for the Great Northern Steeplechase reviewed. Originally set to carry 9.12, he is now on the 10.8 mark. Lomint Coming on Fast. All continues to go well with Lomint, who won the Cornwall Handicap at the Auckland winter meeting last year, and she is standing up to her work in a manner that must bo pleasing J. B. Thorpe. The Catmint mare has come on quite a lot in the last couple of weeks, and has been moving with freedom in her work. With a continuation of her present rate of progress, she may be ready sooner than expected, although it is unlikely she will be at her best next month. Front Bank Sold. Front Bank, which was owned by Sir George Clifford, has been sold for 250 guineas, and in future will carry the colours of Mr. G. Webb.', The Autumnus mare has .run some good races in important handicaps this season, and, judiciously placed, she will win races for her new owner. Front Rank is still an inmate of H. and A. Cutts's stable, but ou Monday she will be transferred to J. Boyd’s establishment. A Day for Fresh Horses. It is a noticeable fact that on Saturday at Wanganui th< winners of live of the events had not started on the first day. These were Bisox, Fuwhcro, Red Fuchsia, Faitonu and Kcddar. A winner of the Hack Hurdles Hymcstrason, had a run in the hack six furlong event ou the opening day. Moa Bird by winning the Open Six just prevented Arrow Lad from adding another newcomer to the list. Master Boon Scratched. Master Boon was scratched at 10.15 a.m. yesterday for (he Great Northern Hurdles and the Penrose Hurdles. Likes It Hard. Since tho Waikato meeting three weeks ago, Princess Ronnie has been confined to tasks of the easiest nature, but trainer C. Norgrovc will shortly send the little daughter of Polydamon along in fast essays, for she is an aspirant for honours in tho Cornwall Handicap. Before selecting Princess Ronnie as a possibility in the above event, sportsmen would prefer to see the conditions prevailing on the clay of the race, for Princess Ronnie is a much better proposition when the track is firm. If the going is at all bad on tho day—which is very likely—Norgrovc does not intend to start, his candidate. Te Kuiti Races At Ellerslie. The annual meeting of the To Kuiti Racing Club will be held at Ellerslie on Saturday, June 50, and Monday July 2, these dates having been approved by the Auckland District Committee, and the president of the Racing Conference. The programme provides for seven races each day, and will include an open steeplechase, hack and hunters’ steeplechase, and hurdle races. Tho prize-money totals £5150. Has Dona All Asked,

Brigadier Bill has jumped the country well in the only two steeplechases ho has contested, but there is a doubt as to how he will faro over the stiller course at Ellerslie, which includes the water jump and the hill. However, ho is a very lit horse ami if the pace is not too solid is a possibility.

Gets Round At Last. Fur the first time in Lis history us a steeplechaser Comical completed the course at Wangauui on Thursday. It was very pleasing lo see him do so, ami there is a possibility that he will yet win a race over the fences. He was ridden by Mr. E. Russell, sou of a wellknown Hawke’s Bay family. Mr. Russell handled him well and it was partly due to bis skill and determination that he got him round. Comical was nut an acceptor on Bat unlay. Now ho has once done the full task ho may be heard of soon to more advantage. He will probably be in attendance at Ellerslic 'whore he has been allotted IPS in the G.N. Hurdles ami 10.12 In the G.X. Steeples. Aptly Named. Tile coming two-year-old filly by paper Money—Pelt, who was bred ami is owned by Mr J. D. Ormond, and who is being put through'(ho initial stage of her education by B. Waddell r.t Grcenmeadows, will race as Cuticle lather an appropriate appellation when considered from the dam’s side, as Belt was got by Demosthenes —Pellicle

season. Black Duke Tor Melbourne.

( a thin external skin), by Birkenhead —Film, and as cuticle means the outer skin the cognomen is full of reference to the lineage of the filly.

Reed Only Two Behind. The jockeys' premiership for the season 1927-27 is becoming more interesting each week. T. Green still heads the list with CO wins. Roy Reed is next with 04, followed closely by A. 11. Ellis, 00. As the last-named horseman met with injuries at Ashburton that will keep him out of the saddle for some time, it certainly seems at this stage, as if Eccd and Green will light out the premiership. Reed rode only one winner at Hawcra, where Green failed altogether. Both missed a win on Thursday at Wanganui, but Eccd brought home two winners! on Saturday while Green could do no better than a couple of seconds. The Awapuni apprentice is riding well at present but he seems to be having no luck. He will complete his apprenticeship next month. Doubly Nominated. Black Mint and Hymostrason, who arc amongst the nominations for the D.J.C. Winter meeting, have been nominated for the Otaki meeting, to bo held on the same date as the Wingatui fixture. There is no certainty at present about the future movements of Hymestrason but on Wanganui showing he should do well wherever taken. Three-year-ol&s Poor Lot.

With the exception, perhaps, of the Great Northern Derby winner Martarina, Agrion and Satrap, this year’s thrcc-year-olds arc indeed a poor lot And as Agrion has been temporarily retired from the Turf, and Satrap is to do his future racing in the Commonwealth, it is most likely that but few of the present three-year-olds will play prominent roles in the important spring handicaps. Martarma is again in steady work at Eiccarton, and the leg trouble whi%h prevented him from opposing the Victorian crack, Trivalve, and the Sydney colt Winalot, in the A.J.C. St. Lcger, seems to have loft him. So the four-year-old career of this sturdy Martian colt will be watched with a great deal of interest. SCmo time back it was announced that he would be reserved for weight-for-ago events, but the probabilities are that he will bo scon out in sonic of the important handicaps. Sayonara Recovering.

The hurdler Sayonara, who met with serious injuries while schooling at iticcarton some time ago apparently is quite sound again, lie is being hacked about at present, and may be placed in work about Grand National time. B. H. Morris With Currie.

B. H. Morris will again be first horseman for Mr. G. M. Currie’s stable next

Accommodation has been secured for Lochclla, Black Bake and Lilt on Juno 1. for shipment to Melbourne, says a southern exchange. Black Buke has performed with marked consistency this season and he should do well in Victoria, Tintoretto For Hurdles.

According to southern reports Tintoretto has shaped well in his few schooling lessons over hurdles, and it is his connections' intentions to race him over tlin battens at Wingatui next month. Tintoretto is at the top of ids form at present, and ins second to Thorndale at Ashburton lust Saturday week suggests that he is a very fit horse.

Town Bank Changes Hands. The latest horse to bo purchased by Mr Samson is Town Bank, a six-ycar-old gelding by Archicstown out of Lily Bank, formerly raced by Messrs It. T. Reid and E. li. Euddiley, for whom he won, two years ago, the Egraont Cup and the Berries Memorial. Last season Town Bank failed to cam a winning bracket, while litis season an opportunity arose for Mr Hamsun to purchase the horse when Mr. Reid accepted the appointment as stipendiary trotting steward. Perhaps the Samson luck will soon have is effect on Town Bank. Also Eiysianor.

Another horse to change hands during last week was Eiysianor, who was purchased by Mr. V. Edhouse, of Bulls, and will go into J. Coyle's Awapuni stable. Negotiations were in train some throe weeks ago, but owing tu the Eiysianor gelding developing a “log” as a result of striking himself while exercising the stile was not completed. In spite of statements lo the contrary, Eiysianor had not hopelessly broken down, and titter a. couple of weeks spell he appeared (o be as sound as ever, hence Mr Edltousc's decision to go on with negotiations, and the horse left F. Lind's stable last Saturday. The purchase price was, it is understood, £2OO and contingencies. Eiysianor has proved quite a good earner of stakes over hurdles for Mr. <\ C. .Smith this season. Terehu Getting Ready.

At, present showing form over (ho Hunt fences is Tereliu ,tJie black sou

of Eiysiau, from that good mare Mobility, which was bred and raced by the late Hon. J. D. Ormond and trained by Stuart Waddell, and piloted by Frcd Jones, the present trainer of Limerick, who was first horseman for the stnblcs. Mobility won several big handicaps in her day and was a good performer. Tcrehu was railed to Marton a fortnight ago and took part in the opening of the Rangitikci hunt. Ho is looking a picture aud is in good condition, he has all the points that makes a jumper. He may go into a well-known stable in the near future, to put the finishing touches on him, for engagements ahead, and towards the end of the jumping season, he may go north (o take part in the I’akuranga Hunt Cup, a race that is. worth winning. Tcrehu lias been a good winner in the show rings, aud last year he won three steeplechases, in less than ton days, the To Malta Heavyweight point-to-point, tho Danncvirko Heavyweight point-to-point, at Ascot, Taknpau, Hawko’s Bay, aud the Hawke’s Bay pjoint-to-point at Hastings 1 . Tcrehu is a great jumper, he is level headed, a born stayer and a groat weight carrier, and more should be heard of him before the jumping season draws to a close.
