FOXTON
DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. The monthly meeting of the committee was held on Monday evening. Those present were: Messrs J. K. Hornblow (chairman). G. Huntley, M. E, Perrcau, J. Eoss and E. Eangiheuea (hon. secretary). The chairman stated that the Minister of Education (Hon. E. A. Wright) had consented to open the new building for the secondary department on Wednesday, March 28th, at 2.30 p.m. Those thaking part in the ceremony also would be Mr J. Linklater, M.P., Mr J. A. Nash, M.P. (an cx-pupil of the school) Mr W. Collins (chairman of tho Wanganui Education Board), The Mayor (Mr M .E. Pcrreau), and Mr Hone McMillan (on behalf of the donors of the land—-the relatives of the -late Ihakara Tukumaru. The question of a brass plate to commemorate the opening was —owing to lack of funds —abandoned. It was pointed out that the Board would provide a memorial plate on the building in recognition of the gift of the land. Further details in connection with the opening ceremony to be dealt with at a later meeting.
