GRIGGS ON TRIAL FOR WIFE MURDER
THE CASE FOR THE CROWN. [By Electric Cable-Copyright.] fAust and Cable Association.! (Received Wednesday, .11 P.m.) MELBOURNE, March 7. The trial of Griggs, the Methodist preacher, charged with the murder of his wife has commenced at Sale. Accused pleaded not guilty. The Crown Prosecutor, in opening the case, said the evidence would show that accused's wife died of arsenical poisoning and that large quantities of arsenic- were kept in places frequented by accused. The medical evidence would show that there were 15i grains of arsenic in the body and three grains were enough to cause death. Further it would bo proved that at least two doses were administered.
