AUCKLAND BENEFITS BY COPIOUS RAINS
Fanners Especially Relieved by Change
MORE CONFIDENT TONE IN CITY (“Times" Special.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. The definite break in the weather has put a new complexion on the situation in the Auckland Province, and city tradespeople who are in touch with farmers are receiving daily proof of renewed activity after the unusually long period of anxiety over production. It was not only that pastures were steadily drying up but a new risk had developed in the form of fire. So the change has been doubjy welcome. Naturally it will take a couple of weeks to give pastures much body, and recovery in milk supply is hardly looked for except in specially favoured localities. But most farmers have expressed satisi'action at the assurance that there will be no further drop in production. This is expected to give more confidence to trade. Probably not since a somewhat similar occurrence in 1908 has there been such relief brought about by rain as during this week and on all sides there is a more hopeful tone in business.
