THE PIPE BAND
(To The Editor.) Sir, —Under this heading two letters have appeared in your columns during the week. The first over the nom-de-plume of " Good Music,” and the second “ Tartan.” Now, sir, I did not have the pleasure of hearing the .renderings of the band over last week-end but judging from the correspondence and a letter I have, just received as lion, secretary, the renderings have certainly been of a special nature. “ Tartan ” is quite right when he says the band has the leadership of New Zealand’s best piper, as it may be mentioned here that since Christmas, two of the band members have annexed no less than five silver cups, a championship shield, apd two championship certificates, at the various contests they have visited. The trophies will be exhibited in a prominent shop window in tho near future, and no doubt will attract a good deal of attention. In conclusion I have, again to agree with the previous writ-, ers and say that when wo have talent of this sort among us it is up to every sou of Scotland to rally round ,®nd keep Highland costume from dying out altogether—l am, etc., THE HON. SECRETARY.
