William Lockwood, a Maori All Black thrccquarter, died at Tolaga Bay. He suffered a recurrence of a head injury ■ho - sustained three years ago. Mr. T. T. Hugo, Inspector of FireBoard Brigades, was in Palmerston North on Tuesday on official businc|s. The Palmerston North stations were inspected and the inspector’s report will be tabled at the nest meeting of the Fire Board. ‘ k The following transfers are announced in the Palmerston North postal district: Mr. C. E. A. Francis transfer red from Henderson to Pongaroa. Mr. H. A. Noilson from Pongaroa to Motu Mr. F., M. Saywel!, postmaster Hai combe to Marten. Mr. A. Hutton from. Marton to Haleombe. Mr. G. R. Taylor from Levin to Eketahuna. Mr. H. J, Hanford from tho accounts department,. Palmerston North, to Levin. Mr. C V, Grimmett, tho international cricket/’should have pleasant memories of his visit to his native town. To mark tho occasion the cricketers of Dunedin have purchased for him a handsome souvenir which will be handed to him at the Carisbrook ground to-day. ■ Tho souvenir is of unique character. On a greenstone base three stamps, all being knocked back,-, are shown with tho bails lying on tho ground, and on the stretch of silver wicket are inscribed tho words: "Well, bowled." The coat of arms of Dunedin and a silver fern are also displayed oh the souvenir, the fern being the inscription: "To 0. V. Grimmett the cricketers of his native city."
