SAYS WOMAN CHASED HIM WITH A CARVER
[“Times” Special.] AUCKLAND, Fell. 22. _ In a report submitted by tto Sanitary Inspector to tbe Mount Roskill Road Board he recounts Ms experience in serving a notice on a female purveyor of foodstuffs in the district requesting her to provide ' a water supply, sink and drain, and to cease selling eatables and ice cream for consumption on the premises until a license had been granted by the Board. “When serving notice on Mrs. — said the Inspector, “I explained what action she Lad to take and was greeted with an outburst of insulting and offensive language. I made to go behind the counter where a heap of bedding was stored along with some sacks of rubbish. Then Mrs. picked np a carving knife used for slicing ham etc., ana politely informed me if I dared to como sneaking behind her counter she would stick the knife through mo.” A later visit showed that some but not ail of the improvements had been made. The owner of the shop appeared before tba Board and said that the wishes of the Inspector, had been complied with, and the question was deferred pending the Inspector's confirmation.
