AYRSHIRE CATTLE
MEETING Or JJREEDEBS COUNCIL The Council of the Ayrshire Cattle Breeders’ Association met in Palmerston North yesterday. There were present Messrs. F. W. Mills (Hawera) chairman, T. Webb (Palmerston North) W. H. Worstcr (Hamilton), J. D. Aitehcson (Linton), C. B. Morgan (Woodville), C. Webb (Koputaroa), H. Webb (Koputaroa), Morgan-Williams (Kaiapoi). A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of tho late Mr. J. Bailey (Huntly) who came into prominence in live-stock circles in recent years as a highly successful! breeder of pedigree Ayrshire cattle. Several matters in connection with the annual sale to be held in Palmerston North during tho Winter Show were being arranged. Mr. C. J. Bowan, of Oamaru, was recommended as judge of cattle before the sale with authority to throw out any he might consider unworthy. The Department of Agriculture is to he asked to inspect all animals for disease* It was decided to malco tattooing of animals optional. Tho South Island Championship for 1928 was awarded tho Dunedin Show and the North Island Championship to the Hamilton Show provided the Eoyal Show is held in tho Autumn. Twenty pounds was voted the Eoyal Show to supplement tho Ayrshire prizes. Tho Council expressed the opinion that no good purpose would be served by subscribing further towards the expenses of a judge from Australia. Mr. C. Morgan Williams was recommended as judge of the North Island Championship section.
