Miss Eldred has returned to Palmerston North, from her visit to Christchurch.

At last night's meeting of tho Committee of the Technical School, the appointment of Mr. W. A. Bryden to the position of student teacher in accountancy subjects was confirmed, , A London cable message announces tho appointment as a King’s Bench Judge of Mr. Ernest Bruce Charles. Mr Charles is the fourth bachelor nowon the Bench. Mr. D. J. Rogers, of Messrs. C. M. Ross Co. Ltd., who is at present an inmate of a private hospital in Wellington, is making a satisfactory recovery from a recent operation, racer badly burned attempting a rec The chairman of tho Palmerston Nth. High Schools' Board of Governors, Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P., welcomed Mr. M. H. Oram to the meeting of the Board last evening. Mr. Oram took his seat following upon the resignation of Mr, J. W. Ruthefurd. At last night's meeting of the Committee of tho Palmerston North Technical School, it was decided to ask tho Minister of Education, Hon. E, A. Wright, to perform the opening ceremony of the new technical school workshops which are at present in tho course of erection. Sincere regret at the decision of Mr. J. W. Rutherfurd to retire from the! High School Board was voiced by Mr. J. A. Nash at last night’s meeting. Practically every member of the Board supported Mr, Nash in eulogizing the work of Mr. Rutherfurd and expressing regret at his decision. It was decided to place on the minutes the Board’s appreciation of Mr. Rutherfurd's work for the cause of education in the town and also to express their regret at his decision with the hope that he would soon be among them again.
