Eangltikei Nominations. Eangitikei Eacing Club nominations are duo at 8 p.m. on Monday next, February 27.. Woodville Omission, Vindication should be included among the acceptors for the Maiden Stakes on the first day of the Woodville Meeting. Good Fields at Woodville. Excellent acceptances have been received for the first day of the Woodville Eacing Club’s Meeting opening on Friday next, and concluding on Saturday. In only two events docs there appear to be a possibility of one dividend fields, the Hurdles and the Victoria Handicap, for each of which only six horses have been paid up. There are particularly good fields left in to contest the Cup and the Flying events and interesting finishes are sure to result. Cimabue Non-acceptor. Cimabue was wrongly included among the acceptors for the Wood- j ‘ville Cup as the result of an ambigu- 1 ous telegram. The Leighton gelding will not be racing at Woodville.

Wanganui Stake Winners. It is rather unusual for a lady owner to top the list of winners at a meeting these days, but such was the fortune of Mrs. M. Blackmore, Palmerston North, who, through Mandane, was credited with the sum of £520 in stake money over the Wanganui Jookei Club’s Autumn Meeting. Mandane won the Wanganui Cup on Thursday, and ran second in the Earle Stakes on Saturday. Mr. J. D. Ormond had two representatives at the meeting, Shirley and , Polydectes, and each secured a win, in addition to which Shirley had a second placing and Polydectes a third, the Hawke’s Bay owner getting £450 as his share. Kiosk’s win in the Jackson Stakes was worth £4OO to Mr. I. Lupton. The following is a list of the amounts won by the different owners during the two days of the meeting: Mrs. M. Blackmore, £520; J. D. Ormond, £450; I. Lupton, £400; W. Higgins, £350; C. G. Macindoc, £285; Crawford and Eoberts, £260; J. Sullivan. £240; Mrs. M. A. Perry, £210; W. Duncan, £205; H. M‘Man away, £180; F. J. Kelly, £ls; E. Fryer, £ls; T. A. Duncan ,£lO. F. Benzine Line. Queen Balboa and King Balboa, who were among the winners at Wingatui ten days ago, brought the Fairy Benzine line further - into the limelight. Their dam, Golden Queen, is a daughter of Fairy Benzie, who produced Golden King, Mythology, Osterman, Agnola a,nd other winners. Agrion Still Sore. Agrion has again shown signs of soreness lately and it is by no means certain that he will be able to race during the autumn. It will be a matter for regret if he has to be put aside,' as he gave promise of adding to the interest in several important events during the next couple of months. Among the Winners. ~, Descendants of the imported sire Borneo, shaped well at the recent meeting held at Eotorua. On the first day La Eoma won the Hot Springs Handicap (six furlongs) and Micrometer won the Geyser Hack Handicap (six furlongs). On the second day The Lover won the Ohinemutu Hack Cup (one mile) and was also third in the Geyser Hack Handicap (first day). Flying Juliet won the President’s Handicap (one mile) and was also second in the Tourists ’ Handicap, beaten half a head by Prince Otto. Borneo has also been represented by winners at recent meetings in Australia. In Queensland his daughter, Lady Komance, scored a win and Lord Eomeo registered a victory at a Sydney meeting. Considering the limited opportunities accorded Romeo he has won a good place on the sires’ list. It is claimed for Eomeo that almost without exception his descendants that have raced are entered among winners. It will be interesting to note how the stock race at Te Aroha on Saturday and Monday next. Winning in Australia. Mystic Peak, which won the second division of the Federal Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday, is a New Zealandbred colt by Eomeo-Ecfmcmcnt. He won the Electric Handicap for two-year-olds, at the Williamstown meeting on February 11. King of Eevclry, which won the first division of the Federal Stakes on Saturday, was favourite for the Williamstown race, but ran unplaced. Avoncourt for Te Aroha. The Lucullus two-year-old Avoncourt

is being sent along in her track essays, with a view of fulfilling her engagements at the To Aroha fixture next Saturday and Monday. This filly who has already scored three victories dur- ’ ing the present season, is a promising , juvenile. Green on Novar. 1 The Awapuni lightweight, T. Green, will have the mount on Novar in the Woodville Cup on Friday. I A Good Recovery. 1 The friends of the popular Trcntham trainer, Mr. Hugh Telford, will be ! pleased to hear that he is making a 1 'good recovery from his recent seri--1 ous operation. Still on Top. i George W. New, with 22 wins to his i credit, is still at the head of the winning trainers’ list. Brother to Ti Tree. Taiamai this season has produced a colt foal to Tea Tray. This youngster who is a full brother to Ti Tree, has had the name Tea Urn bestowed on him. Goblin Market and Chide. After outclassing his opponents in the Dunedin Champagne Stakes, admirers of Goblin Market reckoned that he held a mortgage on the Middle Park Plate at the Canterbury Jockey Club meetingon Saturday last. But, although the Absurd youngster eventually proved victorious, it was not till after a. stern fight with Chide that the favourite pulled his backers through. However by his gallant victory, Goblin Market confirmed the exalted opinions formed of him earlier in the season, Still, the six-furlong race also brought into the public gaze a youngster, Chide, who is likely to play his part in no uncertain fashion in the remaining two-year'-old classics. Fit for the Class. In his last six starts Paul Lucerne has won four times, and been second once, and being of the solid variety, should pay his way in “open” company, in which class he will bo forced to race now his present hack nominations are run out.. Blimp’s Nemesis. Earlier in the season a good many critics condemned Arikiwai as a stayer, but his second to Pink Note in the Dunedin Cup, and his victory in the Midsummer Handicap at the Canterbury Jockey Club meeting on Saturday reveal that he has improved in stamina and also that the half brother to Pilliewinkie is a three-year-old much above the average, who is likely to go on improving and develop into one of the Dominion’s best handicap performers. Backed down to a ridiculously short price Arikiwai did not give his supporters the least cause for anxiety. Never farther back than second he collared the pacemaker Thorndalo half way down the straight, and went on to score one of the most impressive victories seen at Riecarton for some time. His remarkably good gallop j over seven furlongs on Thursday morning was responsible for being sent out a firm favourite, and the Paladin gelding thoroughly justified the heavy support placed in his ability to win Saturday’s important middle-distance handicap . New Star in Firmament. The bracketed pair, Impertinence and Prickles were solidly supported for the Lyttelton Plate at the Canterbury Joekey Club meeting Saturday last, but there was also heavy backing for Amourette. The winuor, Great Star who was having his first run, was at forlorn odds, and he returned his backers a big price. Always in the van, he won in impressive style, and looks like developing into a smart youngster. Prickles ran particularly well. Synonym came from a long way back to fill fourth berth at the dose. Amourette ran about a lot, and though shsc looked a possibility half way down tiro running, she faded away in the last 100 yards. '.trotting Correction. Vesuvius was erroneously included among- the nominations for the Palmerston North Handicap at the forthcoming Manawatu Trotting Club's meeting. Vesuvius' name should have appeared among the nominations for tho President’s Handicap, not the Palmerston North Handicap ■Vesuvius was correctly included in the Cup nominations. I
