LOWER THAN MAN AW At U. An advance payment of,ls 2d for. super-fine butter-fat supplied in January! for butter ,and Is 4d for cheese, is announced by the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company, Ltd. In addition the usual premiums will be paid on milk powder and casein. The Bay of Plenty Co-operative Dairy Ajmciation, Te Puke, will pay out to suppliers for January cream, the sum of £20.193. on the basis of 1b 3|d for superfine. A total of 316,8791 b. of butter-fat was received during the past month. For tho same period last year the Din. ter-fat received amounted to 314,8801 b and on a basis of Is 2d for superlint the payment was £lß,lll 3s 9d. The' increased output for this season to January 31 was 87 1 tons, equal to .11.3 per cent. ! Tho average grade for tho past month was 94. Owing to the pro longed dry weather a marked decrease is shown in the amount of butter-fat received at the factory since the beginning of the present month. Dairyfarmers in the swamp land areas are getting better yields from their cows than farmers In higher lands. f I Opotiki Association. • I The Opotiki Association will pay out on February 20 the sum of £lB,102 ,7s ,6d, being payment at Is per lb. compared with £11,895. 4s lOd at Is. in the corresponding month of last year. The butter manufactured uring January was 172* tons, against 132 tons in January 1927, The Whangaroa Factory. | The directors of the Whangaroa Dairy Company have decided tq pay out for the January supply:-—Finest, Is Ud per lb.; first grade. Is Id. A decrease of 9 cwt. was shown for the month compared with the corresponding month last year. This is tho first month to show a decrease, and, with the continued dry weather the cream] supply is rapidly decreasing. I Pastures in this district have been good compared with most in tho north but every week is now nrhking a marked difference. A co-operative organisation to hani die the local disposal of fat pigs for next season is being considered, and information is being obtained prior t<4 calling a meeting of suppliers. A Satisfactory Increase. Tho Te Awamutu Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd, is making a cash payment this month at the rate of Is 2d per lb, for finest butter-’fat supplied for butter making during January. In addition shareholders will have a further sum of Jd placed to the credit of their share account, and this will carry a dividend of 6 per cent. The rate of monthly cash advances made by this company for finest cream during the present season arct —June Is 4Jd; July, Is 4*d: August, ,1s 53d; September Is 5Jd; October, Is 4*d; November Is 4d; December. Is 3d; January is 2d. The“average ninthly cash advance during tho season for all grades to date is Is 3.54 d per lb. These figures do not include the additional id credit to shareholders. The company's butter output for tho season from June 1 to January 31 showed an increase of 19 per-cent, compared with the corresponding period last year.,. The increase is considered highly satisfactory in view of the serious falling-off in butter-fat production which has taken place recently.
