Engineers -Repprt, The engineer’s report as follows was adopted: . .... ... Since the last meeting of the Board all outstanding work-has been completed. ■ • ..■.■.-•T./ ; .r ' . I have completed the putting on of the new ■ top. dii- Dalzlel’s vegetation drain. The hole in the Wall's property has been competed and finished up. " '■ '■ r ! | I have had to open some of the pipes running through the 'bank "at j Whltanui as the water was running I back along the pipes. This Will be j finished' about Saturday." This is the ilast job there is to complete.';''' ‘ ; 100 chains of Aker’s'Drain Con- ■ tract has been let to" W. Huriia at'£3 jSs per chain. , The contractors arc making good progress, with this job: j I have made a, very'parefur inspection of all the Board's drains arid I find that the- most of., them really ■want- cleaning ..out..'.. .There -are .only three that really could be; out out— Smith’s, Young’s,' and- -.Cooker’s—:, .a’ total of 1-37 chains.. As ,tho expenditure on-these drains ,1s gradually, in--creasing, I;- would;, suggest that , .the Board would allow men to do, all; this year’s drain -cleaning by day.,.labour.
