PACIFIC STEAMERS GO UNDER HAMMER
(A.P.A. and Sun.) (Received Friday, 5.5 p.m.) • WASHINGTON, Feb. 16, the Shipping Board has accepted bids for the sale of Pacific steamers. A 'total of thirty-nlno vessels have been sold. The Watson Navigation Company and the Amerlcan-Hawaiian Steamship Company bought the AmericanAustralian Orient Line, with a Joint bid of 1,95i,755 dollars. The K. D. Dawson Company,, on behalf of a new corporation to be formed, obtained the Oregon Oriental Line for 1,065,000 dollars. Tho Tacoma Oriental Company took the American Mail Line for 606,901 dollars. Bidders agreed to operate the vessels for five years, paying 25 per cent, purchase price on delivery, and 10 per cent, each year for seven and a-half years with 4i per cent, interest on unpaid balances.
